When it gets cold outside, we often think about two very different kinds of vacations. Winter vacation spots that are great are winter wonderlands and tropical beaches.
Some days, as we shiver in the cold, we dream of a ski vacation or a trip to a snow-covered European village. Other days, we dream of our next beach vacation.

This pattern can be repeated about 50 times, and that's pretty much how our lives are from December to March every year. Winter is a great time for people who like to travel and want to see some beautiful places. Putting together a tour can cost a lot of money.

MUST VISIT WINTER DESTINATIONS:

Here are some exciting places to go on your winter break.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

The Anne Frank House and the Rijksmuseum are most beautiful in the winter. The Royal Carré Theatre is over 130 years old. It was built to hold a circus when it was first built. The great shows will keep the kids' attention.

Belgium's Bruges

Winter is by far the most beautiful time to visit Bruges, with its cobblestone streets, frozen canals, and gingerbread houses. After the Christmas markets end in January or February, you'll have the town to yourself. This city has more castles per square inch than anywhere else on Earth, so you are likely to see at least one or two before you leave.

The United Kingdom's Virgin Islands

The British Virgin Islands, which are made up of more than 60 islands, have a lot of coasts to see. The BVIs are more laid-back than some other Caribbean resorts. This makes them perfect for people who want to go on a trip that is both luxurious and relaxing. When you get there, you can stay in one of the very best resorts. Many people live on their own islands. Necker Island is the most well-known, and it was recently redone with a focus on sustainability.

Hallstatt, Austria

Believe it or not, what you're seeing is not a crossword puzzle. This really is a place. Some places in Europe look their best in the winter, like Hallstatt, a small mountain town with a lot of charm. This small village in Austria is dwarfed by the nearby Alps. It is tucked away by a lake and looks best when it is covered in snow. But what makes Hallstatt special is that it has both beautiful scenery and charming mountain villages.

It doesn't take long to walk around town, but you'll want to stop every few steps to take in the sights. Hallstatt is between the lake and the high hills behind it. It is made up of small streets that wind through old wooden buildings. If you're feeling really active, you can climb up to the Hallstatt Skywalk, which is high above the town and has even more beautiful views. Hallstatt is lovely in the summer and spring, but winter is the best time to visit.

Tallinn, Estonia

Big capital cities are fun to visit in the winter, but so are their smaller, sweeter cousins. Take Tallinn, which is the capital city of Estonia. Most people stay in the historic centre of Tallinn, which is centred on a beautiful walled old town. Even though Tallinn's summer is short, the weather is better for travelling outside during that time. The winter is also a beautiful time to visit the city.
